A day on Aughleam beach

Towards the most southerly end of the Mullet, you will come to the lovely village of Aughleam (Eachléim). The village is surrounded by beautiful white-sand beaches that are quiet even at the height of summer.

One of the most popular is Aughleam beach, a sheltered strand, which is located alongside the R313 to Blacksod, just beyond the village of Aughleam.

There is a car park and picnic area at the entrance to this pretty sandy cove with its clear water that is ideal for swimming and perfect for kayaking.

There is no better place to spend a lovely family day on the beach and at low tide, there are cockles and mussels to be picked depending on the season.

When you are in Eachléim is also worth visiting Eachléim Heritage Centre with its museum and cafe where you will find lots of information about the history of the Mullet and its people.
