Carrowteige has one of prettiest beaches in Mayo

The lovely Gaeltacht Village of Carrowteige (Ceathrú Thaidhg) has one of the most beautiful little beaches in Co Mayo.

Rinroe is a sandy cove just a short distance below the pretty village that is the home of an Irish summer school for students from all over Ireland.

There are extensive sand dunes and a small cave under the cliffs in the townland of Stonefield and if you have the time the Carrowteige Loop Walk is worth walking for the view of the Stags of Broadhaven.

The sheltered cove at Carrowteige is perfect for swimming and there is also a lovely, long beach walk, south along the strand, towards Rossport and Sruwaddacon Bay, where the Shell gas pipeline comes ashore.
