The newly-opened Ballina and Killala sections of the Monasteries of the Moy Greenway, the 10km walking and cycling trail, partly follows the route of the old railway line that once linked the two north Mayo towns.

I took advantage of the lovely early June weather to travel the Monasteries of the Moy Greenway, the walking and cycling route that will link Ballina and Killala when it’s completed.

Ballina Fine Gael TD Michelle Mulherin has welcomed the announcement by the Minister of State for Tourism & Sport, Michael Ring TD, that €40,000 has been allocated for a feasibility study for a Ballina Greenway, known as the Monasteries of the Moy Greenway.
